Farmington Pool follows the American Red Cross recommendations for inclement weather to "remain under cover 30 minutes after the last flash of lightning was seen or the last roll of thunder was heard."
THUNDER
1) Everyone cleared from pool water
2) Wait to reopen for 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder
LIGHTNING
1) Everyone cleared from pool deck
2) Wait to reopen for 30 minutes after last sight of lightning
RAIN/COLD WEATHER
1) If there is a constant rain, the pool may be closed at management discretion
2) If the high for the day is lower than 70, the pool may be closed at management discretion
TORNADO WATCH/WARNING
1) Watch: staff will keep an eye on the weather, if there is a chance of severe thunderstorms, or it looks like it will storm, the pool will be closed immediately
2) Warning: tornado has been spotted in the area, pool will be closed, seek shelter immediately.
Daily Staffing is split into two shifts, so it is possible the pool could be closed for a half day if the weather changes. Members will receive an email notification for closures though not necessarily for lightning or thunder delays. Feel free to contact the pool manager with any questions.
